ADULT & CHILD PSYCHIATRIST  
FULL-TIME / PART-TIME EMPLOYEE  
QUALIFICATIONS:  
 
  1. Completion of approved residency in Psychiatry
  2. Board Eligible or Certified in Psychiatry by American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology
  3. Licensed to practice medicine in California .
  4. Approved as member of the Medical Group
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:  
The Psychiatrist shall be responsible for the pharmacological management and clinic treatment of all patients on his/her designated caseload with respect to the clinical and administration of the policies and procedures applicable to the medication clinic as approved by the Medical Group and Alameda County payer sources.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:  
  The Psychiatrist shall:  
 
  1. Conduct psychopharmacology evaluations/assessments on all assigned patients and prescribe medications as necessary.
  2. Ensure that there is a signed Patient Consent Form for any medications prescribed by a physician. If patient is under 18yrs old, make sure the legal guardian signs consent form.
  3. Complete the initial treatment plan after completing the initial evaluation.
  4. Coordinate treatment with other clinic staff, outside therapist and case manager. Report observations and coordinate the development of recommendations as requested.
  5. Conduct medication follow-up and management in a timely manner.
  6. Conduct appropriate laboratory testing.
  7. Write legible progress notes and dates after each visit or contract made with patients.

  8. Approve mediation refills either through direct contact with the pharmacist or through appropriate line staff
  9. Write application for court orders for medications.
  10. Rewrite treatment plans every six months or update more frequently as required.
  11. Complete necessary legal and other paperwork pertaining to the continued treatment of the patient.
  12. Maintain consistent contact with the other clinicians or therapists involved in the treatment of the patient. [i.e. on-site previous physician, on site therapist and /or community case manager, etc.]
  13. Follow the required format by payer sources which will allow reimbursement of services rendered by physician.
  14. Write discharge summaries on patients.
  15. Consistent communication and coordination with required service providers and family members involved in patients care for all patients and caseload.
  16. Participate in quality assurance and utilization review activities as established for or with respect to the medication clinic.
  17. Communicate all critical medical/ clinical issues to the Medical Director and all administrative or operations related issues to the management company.
  18. Interact with all program personnel as required to fulfill the foregoing responsibilities. [i.e. Utilization Reviewer, administrative staff, billing clerks, etc.]
